I approach travel photography as I do journalism -

With intense energy, compassion and an insatiable curiosity
about the people and cultures I encounter.

* NEW * Israel, Palestine and Frankfurt - Embarking on the Muslim world, I lived it up in Istanbul, touring ancient cisterns, savoring syrupy baklava and soaking in Turkish baths. I also tested my limits in southeast Turkey, flying to areas where few people spoke English. Add political uprising and small-town living for my most visual trip yet.

Discover the art of Turkish carpets.

Venezuela, Colombia and Spain - For my fourth trip to Latin America, I set my sights on two countries that rarely get good press—Venezuela and Colombia. I spread my wings in stimulating cities, colonial towns, and sandy beaches, along with hot springs, cloud forests, wooded lakes, and mountain tops.

Mexico, Cuba and Texas - Llamas in Texas, lines of mariachis in Monterrey, vintage cars in Cuba, and decaying fortress in Veracruz: this trip has a little bit of everything.

Bloqueo: Looking at the U.S. Embargo against Cuba provides a good introduction.

Mexico and Guatemala - In two weeks, I covered 700 miles, hit nine cities and saw crater lakes, Mayan culture and ancient ruins scattered throughout an entire town.
