A
little about me:
- I am a reporter
for the Wall
Street Journal, where I cover New Jersey politics and life.
If you want to contact me professionally with New Jersey ideas,
please email me at heather.haddon@wsj.com.
- Previously I worked
for the New York Post, writing for the Sunday
edition. I was also the transit reporter for amNewYork,
the New York City outpost of Newsday, where I've dished out covers,
exclusives and features about how we city folk get around. My
stories have been picked up by NBC, NY1, WPIX, WNYC and the Associated
Press.
- I have produced
pieces on the Newark music and arts scene for WNYC.
- Previously, I wrote for the Herald
News/Bergen Record of New Jersey, where I covered a bit of
everything - from economic struggle and immigration, to floods
in the Dominican Republic and crime on the hardscrabble streets
of Paterson. I snapped up seven reporting awards while I was there.
- My work has appeared in the Village Voice, New Jersey Monthly
and New York Newsday . I have spoken about my stories on Telemundo
and 88.3 FM, a NPR-affiliate in Newark.
- Prior, I helped
found the Indypendent,
an alternative newspaper based in New York City.
- I filmed, edited and produced Bloqueo:
A Look at the U.S. Embargo against Cuba. The independent documentary
has shown in nine film festivals and five countries. Princeton
University, NYU, the University of Texas and other American institutions
currently use the film.
- Travel is a passion. I’ve made it to 30 countries so far,
with plenty of plans for more.
- I live in Long Island City, Queens. Biking, dancing, piano and
photography keep me smiling.
